ST. LOUIS — Sam Mikulak, a Corona del Mar High product who has won the last four U.S. men’s gymnastics all-around titles, won the all-around competition at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Saturday to earn one of five spots on Team USA for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in August.

Mikulak, who represented the United States in the 2012 Olympics in London, produced 362.750 points in the all-around, more than four points better than runner-up Chris Brooks, who also made the Olympic team.

Mikulak tied for first on the pommel horse with Alex Naddour, who also made the team. Both produced a score of 61.175 at Chaifetz Arena on the St. Louis University campus.

He finished third in the vault, fourth on parallel bars, sixth on the rings and seventh in the floor exercise at the trials.

He was a three-time NCAA all-around champion at Michigan, which he helped win two national team titles.
