Mann’s tally came with 1:11 left in the third quarter and pulled the U.S. squad within 4-3.

Team USA tied the score at 1-1 and 2-2, but never led.

Cupido, a starting driver who now has three goals in the tournament, added three steals and two blocked shots. As a senior at Newport Harbor High in 2013, Cupido was the Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team Player of the Year.

Mann, a reserve center who starred at Corona del Mar High and Cal, scored for the second straight game and has two goals in Rio.
