These colors run, and no one minds

Hundreds of runners geared up to be powdered and sprayed with different shades and pigments as part of the Color Run Tropicolor World Tour on Saturday in Huntington Beach.

“We want to bring happiness and health to people’s lives, and the Color Run does just that,” Joe Lopez, the event director, said in a statement.

Waves of runners took off from the starting line for the 5K at Huntington State Beach before striding amid palm trees, inflatable arches and island-style music.

The event benefits Resolution Run, a nonprofit that raises funds for Orange County schools, and the McKenna Claire Foundation, which promotes awareness and research for pediatric brain cancer.

According to a news release, the Tropicolor tour marks the fifth anniversary of the Color Run and is expected to visit more than 40 countries by the end of 2016.
