Around Town: Speak Up Newport discussion will tackle short-term rentals

Share

Residents will have a chance Wednesday night to learn more about potential changes to the short-term rental industry in Newport Beach during a Speak Up Newport forum.

As the popularity of short-term rentals available through websites such as Airbnb, TurnKey and Vacation Rentals by Owner continues to swell, Newport has become one of several beach communities in Orange County grappling with how to regulate an industry that critics say has disruptive effects on communities.

Representatives of the short-term rental industry and city staff will share their ideas about ways to improve relations between rental operators and neighborhoods.
