Biz News: Crudo restaurant moving into Westin hotel

Crudo restaurant will be finding a home in the Westin South Coast Plaza hotel next year, according to a news release.

The restaurant by chef Pascal Lorange specializes in Mediterranean cuisine with Japanese-inspired touches. It will be the second Crudo location, following one that opened in San Diego earlier this year.

Mazda is coming to Fashion Island in Newport Beach with a “ride and drive” tour of its CX-9 SUV.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday near the shopping center’s Starbucks, 401 Newport Center Drive.

Saywitz Co. names new senior vice president

The Saywitz Co., a Newport Beach commercial real state brokerage firm, has named Joe Poncino as its senior vice president of construction, according to a news release.

Poncino has been with the Saywitz Co. since 2001 and has more than 40 years of experience in the construction industry.

“Joe has been an integral part of the Saywitz Co.’s growth over the past decade and will continue to oversee and manage the company’s portfolio of properties, construction, renovations, construction management and team of maintenance technicians,” company President Barry Saywitz said in a statement.

Hoag is ranked a top cardiovascular hospital

Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach has been named one of the nation’s 50 top cardiovascular hospitals for 2017 by Truven Health Analytics, which provides information and suggestions for improving the cost and quality of healthcare, according to a news release.

Hoag was the only California community hospital to make the list. It was also included in the 2016 listing.

“Hoag is proud to be recognized nationally as one of America’s top cardiovascular hospitals by Truven Health Analytics,” Tom Lonergan, executive director of Hoag’s Jeffrey M. Carlton Heart and Vascular Institute, said in a statement. “Our specialized team of physicians, nurses, staff and management continue to deliver the highest quality care and exceptional patient outcomes to our great community and beyond.”
