Two Costa Mesa residents were arrested Saturday night on suspicion of trying to sell a stolen car on Craigslist using forged California Department of Motor Vehicles documents.

A person who was interested in buying the vehicle called Costa Mesa police Saturday to check whether the car was stolen. Police found that it had been reported stolen from Huntington Beach, Lt. Greg Scott said.

Police did not divulge the car’s make and model.

Linda Lamphear, 52, and Domenico Saioni, 40, were arrested at about 7:25 p.m. while sitting in the car at TeWinkle Park, where they had arranged to meet the potential buyer, police said.
