A Huntington Beach man was arrested after a brief pursuit by police through Costa Mesa on Saturday night.

A motorist called police shortly after 11 p.m. to report a possibly intoxicated driver, said Costa Mesa police Sgt. Matt Selinske.

A Huntington Beach police helicopter crew saw a car with no license plates that matched the witness’s description at Fairview Road and Princeton Drive, and officers in patrol cars pulled it over nearby. The driver initially stopped but then fled in the vehicle down Fairview for about a mile and a half before stopping in the parking lot of Chuck E. Cheese’s in the 2300 block of Harbor Boulevard, police said.

The driver ran through the parking lot and tried to hide under a parked car but was taken into custody, police said.

Police found the license plates in the trunk of the car and determined that the car had been stolen during a residential burglary in Huntington Beach on Thursday, Selinske said.

Eli Creamer, 26, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, auto theft and felony evading. He was booked into Orange County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
