Seal Beach police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of robbing a Verizon Wireless store last weekend.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery at the store at 12355 Seal Beach Blvd. shortly after 8 p.m. Feb. 25, said Seal Beach police Sgt. Michael Henderson.

Witnesses told police that a man, possibly in his 30s, entered the store with a handgun and a large plastic bin and demanded that an employee give him multiple “high-end” cellphones, Henderson said. The man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball cap and glasses.

According to police and security camera video footage, the employee walked the man to the back of the store and laid on the floor with his hands above his head while the robber loaded merchandise into the bin. The robber pulled what appeared to be a firearm out of his pocket and touched the employee’s head with it before continuing to load the bin, according to police and video footage.

He then fled.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Det. Jeff Gibson at (562) 799-4100, Ext. 1109.
