Laguna Beach dozen sign with colleges

Twelve senior athletes at Laguna Beach High signed a National Letter of Intent Wednesday to continue their academic and athletic careers.

“Celebrating the success of our athletes is important and I am very proud of our students,” Laguna Beach Principal Joanne Culverhouse said in a statement. “They are not only successful athletes, but student scholars and focused young adults.”

The 12 Breakers who signed Wednesday are:

Mackenzi Baldrige (University of California, Santa Barbara, women’s water polo); Weston Barnes (George Mason University, men’s volleyball); Robert Clemons (Yale University, football); Alexis Del Toro (Harvard University, women’s water polo); Sevana Dvorak (USC, women’s tennis); Kennedy Gherardini (Academy of Art, San Francisco, women’s softball); Marissa Greenough (Erskine College, women’s volleyball); Teague Hamilton (UC Santa Barbara, men’s tennis); Drake Martinez (University of Nebraska, football); Alexandra Murphy (USC, women’s beach volleyball); Taylor Nederlander (George Washington University, women’s tennis); Sydney Saxe (Princeton University, women’s water polo).

“These student-athletes represent the best of the best at Laguna Beach High School,” Laguna Beach Athletic Director Mike Churchill said. “They have excelled on the field of competition and in the classroom. We are very proud of them and wish them all the best of luck in college.”
