Police arrested a Laguna Beach man for allegedly assaulting someone at the Koffee Klatch on Friday.

Laguna Beach police received a call at 6:07 p.m. about a possible assault at the coffee shop at 1440 S. Coast Hwy., Sgt. Louise Callus said in an email.

The victim told officers a man assaulted him, police said. Officers located Olando Edie, 29, nearby and arrested him on suspicion of battery. He was released without having to post bail on agreement that he appear in court, Callus said.

Edie was possibly trying to sell something to young kids, according to the police log. Police were still completing the report as of Tuesday.

He is scheduled to be arraigned April 19 at the Harbor Justice Center in Laguna Hills, according to Orange County Superior Court.

This is not Edie’s first brush with law enforcement. In May 2012, he pleaded guilty to driving at an unsafe speed, the Superior Court website said. In July 2012, he pleaded not guilty to disturbing the peace and posted $500 in bail. And in December 2012, police cited Edie for driving a motorcycle without a license. He was released without having to post bail in that incident on agreement that he appear in court, according to the court’s website said.
