Laguna NJB teams stay red hot

Three Laguna Beach National Junior Basketball teams scored convincing victories last weekend to remain undefeated on the new season.

It was the final games of the year for Laguna teams which resume their season schedules in January.

Boys’ Division 3

The Laguna Beach Team 2 improved to 3-0 by rolling to a 60-25 victory over the Laguna Hills Thunder. Nolan Naess netted a game-high 18 points and Will Compton, who had a big game scoring from the outside, scored 16 points for the Breakers. Keegan Even also hit double figures with 11 points and Griffin Kristensen scored six points and had several key assists.

Girls

Division 1

Laguna Beach 42, Aliso Niguel 18: The Breakers notched their second win in as many starts by routing the Trojans at Aliso Niguel High.

A balanced offense that included sharp passing and unselfish play, was led by Nicole Davidson with 14 points. Madison Sinclair scored 10 points and Kirsten Landsiedel had eight points and five assists.

The Breakers’ next game is Jan. 6 against Rancho Santa Margarita.

Division 2

Laguna Beach 34, Laguna Hills 11: The Breakers used an attacking defense that created numerous turnovers to run their record to 2-0 by rolling past Laguna Hills.

Molly Cohn, who scored seven points, and Emmalisa Randrup led the Laguna defense. Piper Naess led the team in scoring with 11 points. Izzy Meekma and Avalon Brice both scored six points.
