Power outage hits Laguna

Laguna Beach was one of several south Orange County cities affected by a power outage late Thursday night, according to a San Diego Gas and Electric spokeswoman.

About 12,500 homes and businesses in South Laguna lost power for three hours, SDGE spokeswoman Amber Albrecht said.

The outage, caused by an equipment failure near Camp Pendleton, began at 11:42 p.m. Thursday and cut power to 125,000 customers, Albrecht said.

All but 267 customers had their power back by 2:45 a.m. Friday, including all of the homes and businesses affected in Laguna.
