Photo Gallery: Lighting up the sand

Jim Denevan, a Santa Cruz-based artist and surfer, used sticks and rakes to create a temporary geometrical drawing across all of Main Beach on Saturday. Laguna Beach High School students helped Denevan frame the drawing with solar lanterns to illuminate the design. Denevan’s sand drawing was part of the Laguna Art Museum’s first Art and Nature, a weekend conference and festival that celebrated the many forms artists have engaged with and taken inspiration from the natural world.
