Local selected for White House internship

A Laguna Beach native is one of several college students to be part of the White House Internship Program this spring, according to a White House announcement.

Alexandra Langton, who attends American University in Washington, D.C., was chosen as one of the interns.

White House interns work in one of several White House departments such as the Domestic Policy Council, the National Economic Council, the Office of Cabinet Affairs, the Office of Chief of Staff, the Office of Communications, the Office of Digital Strategy, the Office of the First Lady and other offices.

Tickets on sale for SchoolHouse show

Tickets are on sale for the SchoolHouse Rock Live Jr. show, which will take place March 15 to 17 at the No Square Theatre, 384 Legion St.

The show features “our Square Roots winter session students” and is a great show for the younger set, according to a news release.

Auditions for LagunaTOTS are March 12 and 13. Those interested must go to nosquare.org.

Competition is fierce, the press release said, and parents are encouraged to prepare their children. LagunaTOTS is written by Bree Burgess Rosen and Chris Quilter and directed by Ella Wyatt with Deborah Glass as music director.

Applications are also being accepted for the 2013 No Square Scholarship. Information and the application is on the website as well.
