Chardonnay and cucumber, sorbet and cotton candy, basil and white tea. The ingredients sound like something off a bizarre grocery list.
Rather, these are just a few of the thousands of possible scent combinations available at Sinfulicious Bodycare, a natural and organic bath and body store that recently opened in Newport Beach.
"We're more of a store where you can come in, get creative and have fun with the scents," owner April Cox said Thursday.
Sinfulicious opened in a 1,100-square-foot location on Marine Avenue on Balboa Island in August. The store carries body scrubs and washes, perfumes, shaving gel, bath soaks and more that can be customized by scent type, scent strength and product color.
Customers can choose from more than 200 scents and create countless combinations.
"You go into most stores and you're kind of limited," Cox said. "I think people just want more options."
Some of the more unusual scents include leather, campfire and candy cane, all of which smell remarkably close to the real thing.
Among the more common scents are juniper breeze, sandalwood and green apple, and popular fragrances by Acqua Di Gio,Jean-Paul Gaultierand Vera Wang.
The store includes a spa area where customers can try out the various scrubs and soaks on their hands. Store associates will then walk a customer through the process of creating a custom scent to add to any of the available bath products.
One of the most popular products is the mineral body scrub, $35 for 16 ounces, which contains organic jojoba oil, sunflower oil, shea oil, sweet almond oil,
"It really softens the skin, and you don't have to use that much," said Lisa Andre, assistant manager at the Balboa Island store. "It really gets rid of the dead skin cells, all that dryness and just locks in the moisture. My skin has never felt so good."
The store, which is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., also carries a facial product line and independent retailer products such as bath bombs, candles, sleepwear and bath robes.
