Our beloved father, husband, brother, Poppi, uncle, cousin, father-in-law, brother-in-law and friend passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.

Michael was born December 20, 1940. He grew up in Marengo, Illinois where he became an all-star athlete and trumpet player.

Michael traveled as a US Navy CB and landed in Costa Mesa, where he met and married Shirley Littleton. There, they raised three children, bowled weekly at Kona Lanes and operated Hagen Radiator.

Michael loved the outdoors and regularly joined family and friends on hunting, fishing and camping trips. He was also an enthusiastic golfer, keen poker player, master of woodworking and all-around handyman.

In his later years, Michael and Shirley toured the country in a motorhome. They visited wonderful people and places, including the birthplace of John Wayne, Michael’s longtime icon.

They eventually settled in Grants Pass, Oregon, and recently celebrated fifty years of marriage. Michael spent his last years there.

Michael is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Scott and Kelly Hagen, Pam and Doug Dulong, and Cindy and Omar Amézquita; brother, Keith “Babe” Hagen and sister, Gretchen Hellgren; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Michael will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
