After being selected by the Segerstrom Center for the Arts as a beneficiary of a two-year grant, Rea Elementary School in Costa Mesa will perform “The Lion King” at 2 and 6 p.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. Thursday at its campus at 661 Hamilton St.

Last year, Rea and three other Orange County schools were chosen for Disney Musicals in Schools, a program presented by Segerstrom and Disney Theatrical Group.

Segerstrom received a $100,000 grant from Disney to fund two years of the program.

With help from the arts center and the theatrical group, the four schools were able to organize and perform Disney musicals at their campuses last year. Rea performed “The Aristocats” in March 2015.
