Manzella said the man’s death was self-inflicted and involved a firearm, but she did not elaborate on the fatal injury.

Police were still investigating at the scene, Manzella said about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

One day earlier, a man fatally shot himself in a Newport Beach park.

Officers responded to a report of a single gunshot at 3 p.m. Monday on Alta Vista Drive and

found a man dead, hunched over on a park bench.

Newport police also responded to an attempted suicide in public earlier this month.

A man caused “major wounds” but survived when he shot himself on the beach at the Santa Ana River jetty Oct. 1.

Police have not released details on any of the three men.
