Morrison, Gilbert Caffall, 82, passed away on March 14, 2013 at his home in Mission Viejo, California.
Born February 28, 1931 in Beaumont, Texas to Ardis Emma Caffall and Frank William Morrison. He attended Southwestern University at Georgetown, Texas and then attended and graduated from Tulane University Medical School, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1957. It was while attending Tulane that he met Betty Joyce Neville who was attending Newcomb College. They were married June 28, 1952.
Gilbert’s work took him to the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. Then he served in active duty in the US Navy where he was posted at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington D.C. He became a Lt. Commander and served on the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal. After his active duty he returned to the University of Cincinnati and then moved to Southern California where he was an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry and a member of the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, College of Medicine at the University of California Irvine. Gil and Betty were long time residents of Corona del Mar and Mission Viejo.
Gil and Betty Morrison were inseparable and traveled the world visiting places Gilbert could only imagine as a child. They instilled in their children and grandchildren a curiosity about the world and inspired them to continue to learn throughout their lives. Since the passing away of Betty, October 16, 2000, Gilbert continued to travel, read and enjoy his family.
He is survived by his children, Kay Elizabeth Morrison Mammen, spouse William Patterson Mammen, Keith Neville Morrison, Kimberly Sue Morrison Pelz, spouse Carl Joseph Pelz, Christopher Gilbert Morrison, spouse Melony Shimel Morrison, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
