Wade bound for Murray State

Newport Harbor High product Zach Wade, who led the Saddleback College football team with 98 tackles in 2015, will continue his career at Murray State University in Kentucky, Saddleback announced recently.

Wade, a 6-foot, 200-pound strong safety, had two interceptions, recovered three fumbles and forced two fumbles to help the Gauchos (10-3) win the Southern Conference and reach the state title game.

Saddleback lost to San Francisco, 26-14, in the state final.

Murray State, a Division I school, competes in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Racers finished 3-8 last season.
