Boys' Volleyball: Tars' Carr, Sargeant are honored by Sunset

Newport Harbor High senior opposite Clay Carr and senior libero Nic Sargeant made the All-Sunset League first team in boys' volleyball.

Carr and Sargeant led the Sailors (10-19, 5-5 in league) to a share of third place in league with Edison, but Newport Harbor lost a league playoff match to the Chargers, costing it a CIF Southern Section Division 1 postseason berth.

Carr produced 400 kills, 44 blocks and 18 service aces.

Sargeant totaled 291 digs.

Carr and Sargeant played in the 37th annual Dave Mohs Memorial Orange County High School All-Star Match for seniors at Newport Harbor. Sargeant earned the MVP award.

Newport Harbor senior outside hitter Wyatt Walton is a second-team pick.

Huntington Beach's T.J. DeFalco and Brenden Sander shared the Sunset League MVP award.
