Breakdown: The Lightning play their first game under interim coach Tom Kirchmeyer, who is stepping in for J.R. Tolver after he resigned late into the first week of practice to end a five-year tenure at the helm ... Calvary Chapel, under Coach Chris Cox, finished 7-4 and made the CIF playoffs last season, though it lost its final three games ... Calvary Chapel, which competes in the Orange Coast League with Costa Mesa and Estancia, won last year's meeting, 19-7 and also won the 2012 season opener, 42-20 to snap a string of three-straight season-opening wins for the Lightning ... Kirchmeyer, the Lightning's offensive coordinator the last five seasons, will continue to call plays ... Calvary Chapel has won its last six season openers.
