Letters to the Editor: Mailbag: Burbank Police pulling over cyclist for minor infraction no surprise to him

Share

I found amusing the several posts in the Leader’s Facebook page regarding the Jan. 12 edition of the paper, wondering why a bicyclist was reportedly pulled over by the Burbank Police at 3:45 a.m. for riding his bicycle on the Chandler Bike Path without his hands on the handlebars. He was afterwards found to have committed other crimes that night.

The initial reason for stopping the cyclist does not surprise me, however, as Burbank is the town that hands out misdemeanor charges against bicyclists who safely walk their bikes over a public bridge across the LA River, with the potential of them receiving a six- month jail sentence and a $500 fine for their offense.
