Festival Ballet to present Gala of the Stars

Festival Ballet Theatre, a Fountain Valley-based dance company, will present its seventh annual Gala of the Stars at the Irvine Barclay Theatre on Friday.

The event, which brings together dancers and choreographers from around the world, starts at 7 p.m. in the theater, 4242 Campus Drive on the UC Irvine campus. Among those scheduled to perform are Fabrice Calmels, a judge this year on “So You Think You Can Dance,” and members of the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and Staatsballett Berlin.

This year’s program is dedicated to Gailene Stock, director of the Royal Ballet School in London, who taught Festival Ballet students for several years through the Southland Ballet Academy Summer Intensive program.
