Jim Wright, 70, loving father and grandfather, died on October 10, 2012 at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA.
Born and raised in Glen Ellyn, IL, Jim was a devoted alumnus of DePauw University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree before obtaining his Master’s Degree from Michigan State. Jim went on to serve in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, before meeting his future wife, Theresa, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Jim and Theresa moved to Southern California in 1982, and have been residents of Newport Beach since 1985. Jim worked as a technical writer for Toshiba American Medical Systems for 22 years. A long-time actor and techie, Jim had performed locally with the Laguna Moulton Playhouse. More recently, he enjoyed volunteering as the Southern California college fair alumni representative/coordinator for DePauw.
Jim was an active member of Community Church Congregational UCC in Corona del Mar, where he sang with the choir for 27 years and served as the music librarian and acolyte coordinator (historically, acolyte “mother,” a title he never changed).
Jim is survived by his daughters, Becky and Carole Ann, step-son Chandler, grandson James, and spouse, Theresa, as well as his sisters, Becky von Tucher and Nedra Bloom. They and all who knew him are grateful to have had him in their lives. He will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held October 23, 2012 at Community Church, 611 Heliotrope Ave., Corona del Mar. Viewing at 9:30 a.m., Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m.
