Kids scramble for 50,000 eggs in Irvine

The hunt was on for 50,000 candy-filled Easter eggs Saturday at Mariners Church in Irvine.

Toddlers to elementary school students raced to gather the most eggs and candy during an afternoon scramble. Then, as the sun went down, children grabbed flashlights to hunt for eggs in the more challenging evening hunt.

Mariners’ Easter tradition is one of the largest egg hunts in Orange County, with the church’s locations in Irvine, Mission Viejo, Huntington Beach and San Juan Capistrano hosting various events and services throughout Easter weekend.
