The public-access stations in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach are producing a new local sports television show.

“Newport-Mesa SportScene” is being hosted by Daily Pilot Sports Editor Steve Virgen and Costa Mesa Television’s Dane Bora.

“I’m very excited about this project and what it can provide for the community,” Virgen said.

The first episode, which was presented Nov. 26, was filmed at Newport Harbor High School and included a look at Costa Mesa High School’s award-winning cheer team. The hosts also reviewed the fall season’s prep sports and conducted interviews with Harbor High water polo Coach Bill Barnett and quarterback Cole Norris, according to a news release.

In Costa Mesa, “Newport-Mesa SportScene” is available on Channel 3 for Time Warner Cable customers and on Channel 99 for AT&T U-Verse.

Episodes are also available on Costa Mesa’s website and YouTube.

For Newport Beach customers, the show is available on Time Warner’s Channel 3 and Cox’s channels 30 and 852.
