In the loving presence of family, friends and caregivers, Larry peacefully ended his battle with Alzheimer’s on Wednesday, June 4th, 2014. He was born in Pasadena to Dorothy and Frances “Jack” Root. He graduated from UCLA in 1959, joined the Air Force Reserves, worked in advertising, real estate and wholesale roofing sales at The Christian Company.

It was fate that brought Larry and the love of his life, Karen Johnson, together at a boat show in San Francisco. They were married in Kealakekua, Hawaii in 1962.

He is now in the presence of our Lord, happy and whole again. He was a generous, handsome, caring, joy to be around. He made a positive impact on many people without wanting anything in return.

A memorial service will be held June 17th at 2:00 pm at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in NB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association California Southland Chapter (alz.org).
