High School Roundup: Sage Hill girls’ golf places fourth at SCGA Qualifier, reaches CIF SoCal Regional

The Sage Hill School girls’ golf team had a score of 401 in the CIF Southern Section and SCGA Qualifier on Thursday at Western Hills Country Club in Chino Hills, becoming the fourth and final team to advance to the CIF Southern California Regional championship.

Sage Hill was led by senior Ashleigh Park, who shot an even-par 72 to tie for the low score of the day. Park lost a two-hole playoff to Emma Han of team champion Diamond Bar.

Individually, Edison sophomore Chaemin Park and Newport Harbor senior Cathy Tong both advanced as two of the top 28 individual players after shooting a 74 and 75, respectively.

The CIF Southern California Regional championship is Nov. 14 at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Northwood 10, Costa Mesa 9: Gabe Gerber had three goals for the Mustangs in Thursday’s CIF Southern Section Division 3 second-round playoff match on the road.

Todd Anderson and Gavin Fisher each scored twice for Costa Mesa (12-5).

Santa Barbara 10, Edison 6: The Chargers (13-16) lost on the road in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs Thursday.

Burbank Burroughs 13, Marina 11 (OT): Vincent Labonte scored six goals for the Vikings in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs Thursday on the road.

Tanner Powell made 10 saves for Marina (14-14).

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Corona del Mar 16, San Marcos 2: Hannah Jervis, Kristina Veskovic and Alden Mulroy each won two singles sets for the Sea Kings in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs Thursday at home.

Top-seeded CdM (15-5) will play the winner of Friday’s match between San Clemente and Murrieta Valley in the quarterfinals on Monday.
