High School Roundup: Edison girls’ soccer blanks rival Fountain Valley

Nicole Field had two goals and an assist, and the Edison High girls’ soccer team won 4-0 at rival Fountain Valley on Thursday in a Sunset Conference crossover match.

Morgan Roberts and Jackie Peterson also scored for the Chargers (6-3-2), with Peterson and Abby McCollam each notching one assist.

Edison is at home against Newport Harbor on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in a crossover match, while Fountain Valley (6-3) hosts Huntington Beach on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Pacifica Christian Orange County 69, Sherwood (Ore.) 54: Judah Brown had 28 points and 11 rebounds for the Tritons in the Les Schwab Invitational “The Eight” game Thursday at Liberty High in Hillsboro, Ore.

Riyaan Jiwani had 12 points for Pacifica Christian (10-3), which plays in the tournament semifinals Friday.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Huntington Beach 53, Newport Harbor 10: Cassidee Kinslow had a team-high 11 points for the visiting Oilers in Thursday’s Sunset Conference crossover game.

Andie Payne added eight points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots for Huntington Beach (13-4). Alyssa Real had nine points, and Akemi Tanga chipped in with eight points.

Emma Fults had two points and five rebounds for Newport Harbor (9-8). Emma Coatsworth pulled down six rebounds.
