College Roundup: UC Irvine men’s volleyball rallies for win over No. 11 Loyola Chicago

Outside hitter Joel Schneidmiller and opposite Alexandre Nsakanda each had 13 kills to lead the No. 8-ranked UC Irvine men’s volleyball team to an 18-25, 28-26, 25-19, 25-22 victory over No. 11 Loyola Chicago on Friday in a nonconference match at the Bren Events Center.

UC Irvine (2-1) also received 11 kills and 10 digs from outside hitter JB Kam, while middle blocker Scott Stadick provided 11 kills, two solo blocks and eight block assists.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Cypress 75, Orange Coast 61: Jonathan Ileleji had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Pirates in Friday’s Orange Empire Conference game.

Myles Woods scored 17 points and Andres Ortega added 16 points for Orange Coast (3-13, 0-4 in conference).

OCC plays at Irvine Valley on Monday at 6 p.m.

Santiago Canyon 116, Golden West 82: Ricky Briseno had a team-high 20 points for the visiting Rustlers in Friday’s Orange Empire Conference game.

John Stillgess added 19 points and five rebounds for Golden West (2-15, 0-5). Eric Watson scored 15 points, and Christian Anderson provided 13 points and 11 rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Fullerton 72, Golden West 45: Mylee Madrazo had a team-high 18 points for the host Rustlers on Friday in an Orange Empire Conference game.

Roxie Aquino also scored 10 points for Golden West (3-11, 0-2). Mery Carrasco gathered 10 rebounds.
