College Roundup: Vanguard women’s basketball outlasts William Jessup

Victoria Chea had 26 points and eight assists for the Vanguard University women’s basketball team in Thursday’s 68-63 Golden State Athletic Conference win over William Jessup at home.

Vanessa Murphy had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the No. 5-ranked Lions (11-2, 5-1 in conference), while Estefania Giner scored nine points.

Vanguard hosts Menlo College on Saturday at 1 p.m.

UC Santa Barbara 65, UC Irvine 61: Sophia Locandro had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Anteaters in Thursday’s Big West Conference game at Bren Events Center.

Haleigh Talbert added 16 points for UC Irvine (4-12, 0-2 in conference).

The Anteaters play at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Saturday at 2 p.m.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

William Jessup 93, Vanguard 83: Isaiah Gentry led the Lions with 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists in Thursday’s Golden State Athletic Conference game at home.

James Moore added 15 points for Vanguard (10-8, 3-3 in conference), which hosts Menlo College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
