College Roundup: No. 7-ranked UC Irvine men’s volleyball beats No. 9 Stanford

Alexandre Nsakanda had 16 kills on .387 hitting to lead the No. 7-ranked UC Irvine men’s volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21 win over No. 9 Stanford on Friday night in a nonconference match at Bren Events Center.

Joel Schneidmiller added 11 kills and seven digs for UCI (3-1). Scott Stadick provided seven kills, two solo blocks and six block assists.

Patrick Vorenkamp distributed 36 assists, adding five digs and two block assists.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Golden West 88, Orange Coast 73: Eric Watson had 24 points and seven rebounds to lead the Rustlers in Friday’s Orange Empire Conference game at home.

Francis Dogani added 13 points and five rebounds for Golden West (3-16, 1-6 in conference). Justin Kirksey contributed 12 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals. John Stillgess had six points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals.

Myles Woods had a game-high 32 points to go with 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots for the Pirates (3-16, 0-7).

Orange Coast’s Andres Ortega added 19 points, and Jonathan Ileleji chipped in with 13 points.
