High School Roundup: Pacifica Christian O.C. boys’ basketball rolls past Capistrano Valley Christian

Judah Brown finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, leading the Pacifica Christian Orange County High boys’ basketball team to a 74-55 win at home over Capistrano Valley Christian in San Joaquin League play on Monday night.

Houston Mallette had 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals for Pacifica Christian (18-7, 5-1 in league), which is tied with Fairmont Prep for first place.

Josh Sims added 14 points, and Charles Erving chipped in with 13 points.

Estancia 81, Calvary Chapel 44: Cameron Khoury led the Orange Coast League champion Eagles with 18 points in Monday’s home game.

Jake Covey contributed 16 points for Estancia (24-3, 9-0 in league), which can claim an undefeated league crown with a win over rival Costa Mesa at home Wednesday.

Estancia’s Ben Sparks had nine points, while Arthur Bishop and Ben Bui added eight points apiece.

Santa Ana 64, Costa Mesa 42: Aiden Spallone had 13 points for the host Mustangs on Monday in an Orange Coast League game.

Alec Terry added 10 points, and Christian Dasca chipped in with eight points for Costa Mesa (9-18, 4-5 in league).

The Mustangs, who entered the day in a four-way tie for second place with Calvary Chapel, Saddleback and Santa Ana, finish up at rival Estancia on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Sage Hill 59, Downey Calvary Chapel 33: The Lightning finished in second place in the Academy League at 6-2 with Monday’s result at home.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Orangewood Academy 72, Sage Hill 38: Emily Elliott had 13 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Lightning at home in a San Joaquin League game.

Isabel Gomez also had 15 points and eight rebounds for Sage Hill (15-8, 3-3 in league).

Calvary Chapel 47, Estancia 18: Estancia dropped to 3-24 overall and 1-8 in the Orange Coast League following Monday’s game.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Estancia 3, Calvary Chapel 0: Estancia clinched a CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoff spot in winning Monday’s home match in Orange Coast League play.

With the win, the Eagles (5-11-6, 4-2-3 in league; 15 points) can finish no worse than third place. Saddleback (8-7-4, 5-3-1; 16 points) is in second place.

Santa Ana 6, Costa Mesa 2: Anthony Avila and Alan Morales scored goals for the Mustangs on Monday in an Orange Coast League match at home.

Costa Mesa (4-10-7, 2-3-4 in league; 10 points) will end the season with the second round of the Battle for the Bell at Estancia on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Paul Castillo had two goals for Santa Ana (18-3-2, 8-0-1; 25 points), which clinched the league title.

Loara 4, Los Amigos 1: Jonathan Alarcon scored a goal that was assisted by Mauricio Rodriguez for the host Lobos on Monday in a Garden Grove League match.

Los Amigos (8-3-5, 5-2-2 in league) is locked into third place with one match remaining.
