College Roundup: Orange Coast softball rally falls short at El Camino

The Orange Coast College softball team scored two runs in the seventh inning, but the Pirates lost Wednesday’s nonconference game 5-4 at El Camino.

Jaelyn Operana, a recent Edison High graduate, went four for four with two runs scored for Orange Coast (1-2).

Madison LeClaire had two hits and four runs batted in. Joanna Michaels also had two hits.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Fullerton 62, Golden West 51: Eric Watson had 15 points for the Rustlers in Wednesday’s Orange Empire Conference game on the road.

Logan Feldbrugge and Caleb Gerber each added six points for Golden West (3-21, 1-11 in conference).

Saddleback 69, Orange Coast 59: Myles Woods had 19 points and nine rebounds for the visiting Pirates on Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference game.

Jonathan Ileleji added 15 points and eight rebounds for Orange Coast (3-20, 0-11 in conference). Jay Yu had 13 points.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

UC Santa Barbara 67, UC Irvine 57: Lauren Saiki had 18 points and five rebounds for the Anteaters in Wednesday’s Big West Conference game on the road.

Haleigh Talbert added 15 points, four rebounds and three assists for UCI (6-16, 2-6 in conference). Sophia Locandro had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Fullerton 70, Golden West 46: Abigail Guerrero led the Rustlers with nine points in Wednesday’s Orange Empire Conference road game.

Jackie Navarro added eight points for Golden West (3-17, 0-8 in conference).

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Long Beach 3, Golden West 1: The visiting Vikings earned a 25-10, 22-25, 25-16, 25-14 nonconference win on Wednesday.

Golden West is now 1-2.
