High School Roundup: Top-seeded Laguna Beach football rolls past Chino

Will Bingham threw for 319 yards and six touchdowns, as the Laguna Beach High School football team defeated visiting Chino 42-21 on Friday in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 9 playoffs.

Luke Degner was on the receiving end of three of those touchdowns, making six catches that went for 167 yards. Jacob Diver also made three catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns, and David Dworakowski reeled in the other score.

Laguna Beach (10-1), the top seed in the draw, will play at Claremont (6-5) next week in the quarterfinals.

Newport Harbor 38, Sunny Hills 28: AJ Guitron-Moore threw for three touchdowns to lead the Sailors to a win in their Division 6 playoff opener at home on Friday night.

Kashton Henjum had two receiving touchdowns for third-seeded Newport Harbor (4-7), which plays at Santa Barbara (8-3) in the next round.

Josiah Lamarque returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and he also had a receiving score.

San Bernardino 33, Estancia 26: Cameron Knickerbocker scored on a quarterback keeper to give the host Eagles a 26-25 lead with 10:28 remaining, but Estancia was eliminated from the postseason in the first round of the Division 13 playoffs on Friday.

Estancia (4-7) was the fifth-place team in the Orange Coast League this season.

Compton 58, Costa Mesa 0: The visiting Mustangs were blown out by the top-seeded Tarbabes in the first round of the Division 12 playoffs on Friday at Compton College.

Costa Mesa (5-6) was the third-place team in the Orange Coast League this season. The Mustangs qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2013.

Sage Hill 26, Palos Verdes Peninsula Chadwick 20 (OT): Steven Karahalios had the game-clinching interception in overtime, as the visiting Lightning upset the No. 3-ranked Dolphins in the first round of the Division 1 eight-man football playoffs.

Jack Pheasant also had a fumble recovery in the end zone for Sage Hill (6-3).
