Deckey and Cutter’s 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles in the first round helped the Breakers surge to a 5-1 lead.

“The doubles came out really, really well,” Laguna Beach coach Rick Conkey said. “The singles competed hard and were fairly dominant. It was the breakthrough doubles matches that really made the difference ... and took a lot of stress and pressure off the team.”

The Breakers, who have won nine straight matches, host La Cañada (11-3) in a Division 1 semifinal match Wednesday.

Huntington Beach 9, Los Angeles Marlborough 9 (Huntington Beach wins 75-67 on games): Yen Nhi Huynh and Solaya Han swept in singles for the Oilers in Monday’s CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoff quarterfinal match at Huntington Beach High.

Huntington Beach’s doubles teams of Cindy Huynh and Sophie Jin-Ngo, Le Nhi Huynh and Ella Weisman, as well as Sophia Straub and Isabella Moore, were all able to win one set.

Huntington Beach plays at No. 2-seeded Rio Hondo League champion San Marino (14-1) in a Division 1 semifinal match Wednesday.
