High School Roundup: Pacifica Christian, Sage Hill, Laguna Beach girls’ basketball teams advance in regionals

Addison Deal scored 31 points as the Pacifica Christian Orange County girls’ basketball team earned a 75-41 home win over Santa Monica in the first round of the CIF Southern California Regional Division II playoffs on Tuesday night.

Ava Carter added 14 points for No. 7-seeded Pacifica Christian (26-5), the CIF Southern Section Division 4A champion. Charis Wondercheck scored 11 points.

Pacifica Christian will play at No. 2-seeded Ontario Christian in a Division II regional quarterfinal on Thursday.

Sage Hill 50, Nipomo 41: Emily Eadie had 17 points and 16 rebounds for Sage Hill in the first round of the CIF Southern California Regional Division II playoffs at home on Tuesday night.

Isabel Gomez added 16 points for the Lightning, while Annabelle Spotts and Kat Righeimer scored six points each.

The No. 6-seeded Lightning (23-10) will play at No. 3-seeded Long Beach Poly in Thursday’s Division II regional quarterfinal round.

Laguna Beach 50, Santee 37: The No. 11-seeded Breakers pulled off a road upset over the No. 6 seed in the first round of the CIF Southern California Regional Division V playoffs on Tuesday.

Laguna Beach (21-12) plays at No 3-seeded Rancho Buena Vista in the next round Thursday.

Chula Vista Victory Christian Academy 71, Estancia 25: The No. 15-seeded Eagles fell at the No. 2 seed in the first round of the CIF Southern California Regional Division V playoffs Tuesday.

Estancia finished its season 14-14.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Escondido San Pasqual 1, Huntington Beach 0: The Oilers were blanked in the opening round of the CIF Southern California Regional Division I playoffs on Tuesday.

Huntington Beach finished its season 17-4-5.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Corona del Mar 10, Palos Verdes Peninsula 8: Niels Hoffmann swept in singles for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s nonleague road victory.

Max Krykunenko and Logan Friedman each won two singles sets for CdM (2-1).
