High School Roundup: CdM girls’ lacrosse rides offense to win over Yorba Linda

Frankie Garcia had six goals and four assists to propel the Corona del Mar girls’ lacrosse team to an 18-10 win over Yorba Linda in nonleague play on Tuesday on the road.

Abby Grace added five goals and three assists for CdM (5-2). Belle Grace recorded a hat-trick, and Amanda Cord also scored twice.

Sea Kings goalkeeper Eleanor Spotts made 10 saves.

St. Margaret’s 14, Edison 12: Grace Karstetter paced the Tartans with four goals on Tuesday in a nonleague match at Edison High School.

Edison (3-3) plays at Newport Harbor next Tuesday.

Huntington Beach 13, Long Beach Wilson 5: The Oilers improved to 5-4 overall after notching their second consecutive home win in nonleague play.

San Clemente 10, Newport Harbor 9: The visiting Sailors fell to 4-3 overall following Tuesday’s defeat in a nonleague match.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

St. Margaret’s 18, Newport Harbor 1: The Sailors dropped to 3-6 overall with Tuesday’s nonleague loss on the road.

BASEBALL

Estancia 5, Orange 3: Trevor Scott improved to 5-0 for the Eagles after throwing six shutout innings in Tuesday’s Orange Coast League game at Estancia High School.

Scott allowed five hits and struck out six for Estancia (12-1, 1-1 in league).

Andrew Coyotzi went two for four with a triple and a run batted in, while Andrew Mits went three for three with a run scored and a run driven in.

Estancia plays at rival Costa Mesa on Friday.

Costa Mesa 7, Calvary Chapel 0: Jacob Allen threw six shutout innings as the Mustangs got their first Orange Coast League win Tuesday at Costa Mesa High School.

Chris Hall went two for two with a pair of doubles and a run batted in for Costa Mesa (7-4, 1-2). Jordan Stucki had a hit and two RBIs, and Matt Anderson had a double and a triple and supplied a pair of RBIs.

Fountain Valley 3, Marina 0: Pitchers Ryder Brooks, Daniel Stopol, Blake Wentz, Keith Aguilar and Tim Grack combined on the shutout for the Barons in Tuesday’s nonleague game at Angel Stadium.

Grack, Tyler Arevelos and Adam Baggetta each had a run batted in for Fountain Valley (6-6).

Collin Miskelly and Jaxon Rodriguez each had a pair of hits for Marina (3-5).

Los Amigos 5, Westminster La Quinta 4: Juan Gutierrez picked up the win on Tuesday for the host Lobos, the top-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division 7 poll.

Los Amigos (12-1, 3-1 in the Garden Grove League) remains at home to face Rancho Alamitos on Friday.

El Dorado 8, Ocean View 4: Rizzy Collatto had a pair of doubles and a run batted in for the Seahawks in Tuesday’s road loss.

Evyn Lewis also had two hits for Ocean View (7-5).

SOFTBALL

Edison 5, Newport Harbor 3: Bella Malecki drove in two runs to help the visiting Chargers hand the Sailors their first loss of the season on Tuesday in a Sunset Conference crossover game.

Natalie Cuadras had a double, a run batted in, and a run scored for Edison (4-7), and Sophia Hannappel also knocked in a run.

McKayla Cotton, Maia Helmar and Sydni Griffin each had one run batted in for Newport Harbor (8-1). Sienna Schneider had two hits.

Fullerton 12, Ocean View 6: Sienna Erskine had three hits, including a double, but the Seahawks dropped their third straight game in Tuesday’s nonleague game at home.

Regan Preciado, Ashley Baldwin and Kaya Collado each had two hits for Ocean View (4-8).

Lynwood Firebaugh 19, Estancia 9: Andrea Heraldez had a double, a triple and three runs batted in to lead the Falcons over the visiting Eagles on Tuesday in a nonleague game.

Estancia (2-8) has lost three in a row.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Laguna Beach 10, JSerra 8: Ian MacLaughlin won twice in singles for the Breakers in Tuesday’s nonleague match at Laguna Beach High School.

The brother tandem of Chris and Jeff Herkins won twice at No. 1 doubles for Laguna Beach (4-2).

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Estancia 3, Costa Mesa 0: The Eagles swept the rival Mustangs 25-23, 25-15, 25-17 on Tuesday at home in the first meeting of the Battle for the Bell.

Estancia improved to 7-1 overall, while Costa Mesa dropped to 3-6 on the season. The match was the Orange Coast League opener for both teams.

Mater Dei 3, Newport Harbor 2: The Sailors dropped Tuesday’s nonleague match 15-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-22, 15-11 at home.

Newport Harbor fell to 13-4 after suffering back-to-back losses for the first time this season, including a sweep by Los Angeles Loyola on Saturday.

Corona del Mar 3, Manhattan Beach Mira Costa 1: Sterling Foley paced the host Sea Kings with 17 kills in a 25-19, 17-25, 25-22, 25-21 win on Monday in a nonleague match.

Jake Olson had 11 kills, and Ethan Pliha added nine kills for CdM (8-3).

BOYS’ GOLF

Edison 185, Mater Dei 193; Edison 185, Marina 226: The Chargers improved to 6-1 on the season, earning wins over the Monarchs and the Vikings on Tuesday at the Huntington Club.

Pacifica Christian Orange County 213, Samueli Academy 281: The Tritons improved to 3-1 overall with a nonleague win over the host Firewolves at Riverview Golf Course on Monday.
