Jaylene Duarte and Rachael Arnold homered to help the Huntington Beach High School softball team to an 11-0 mercy-rule win over visiting Troy in six innings on Wednesday in a nonleague game.

Sophia Knight added three hits, four runs batted in, three stolen bases and two runs scored for Huntington Beach (6-3).

Tea Gutierrez tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and four walks while striking out three for the Oilers.

Pacifica 4, Marina 2: Rachel Ruiz drove in a run, but the Vikings were unable to make a 2-0 lead stand up on Wednesday in a nonleague game on the road.

Marina (6-5) plays at Edison in a Surf League opener on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

Corona del Mar 4, Fountain Valley 2: Brycen Hill threw a complete game to lead the Sea Kings over the Barons in Wednesday’s Sunset Conference crossover game at Fountain Valley High School.

Max Lane and Jack Salmon each launched home runs for CdM (6-6), and Dennis Fitzpatrick was three for three.

Chris Ouellette was two for four with a double for Fountain Valley (6-7).

The Sea Kings play at Marina on Friday in a Wave League opener, while the Barons start Surf League play at Los Alamitos.

Edison 6, Newport Harbor 3 (11 innings): The Chargers rallied for the extra-inning road victory in Wednesday’s Sunset Conference crossover game.

Edison improved to 7-6.

AJ Guitron-Moore threw five shutout innings for Newport Harbor (9-3), which got two hits apiece from Joey Wright, Trent Liolios and Jackson Gilles.

Edison hosts Huntington Beach in a Surf League opener Friday, while Newport Harbor takes on Laguna Beach at home.

Huntington Beach 10, Marina 6: Aidan Espinoza had a bases-clearing triple in the fifth inning to spark the Oilers in Wednesday’s Sunset Conference crossover game at Huntington Beach High.

Huntington Beach improved to 6-4, while Marina is now 3-8.

Los Alamitos 5, Laguna Beach 3: Noah Neufeld was two for three with two doubles and a run batted in for the Breakers in Wednesday’s Sunset Conference crossover road game.

Max Burchi also had two hits and a pair of RBIs for Laguna Beach (6-5).

BOYS’ TENNIS

Corona del Mar 10, Portola 8: Niels Hoffmann, Jack Cross and Logan Friedman each won two singles sets for the Sea Kings in Wednesday’s nonleague match at Portola High.

Max Krykunenko and Jonathan Hinkel swept at No. 1 doubles for CdM (5-1), ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll.

BOYS’ GOLF

Costa Mesa def. Ocean View: The Mustangs won by forfeit against the Seahawks on Wednesday, as Ocean View did not have enough players to produce a complete team score.

Senior Cristopher Rodriguez carded a one-over par score of 36 for the Mustangs on the front nine of the Mesa Linda course at Costa Mesa Country Club.

Costa Mesa will take on Westminster at Meadowlark Golf Course on Monday.
