High School Roundup: Edison boys’ golf wins Southern Nevada Invitational

The Edison High School boys’ golf team beat the field by 23 strokes in the two-day Southern Nevada Invitational after Tuesday’s final round at the Anthem Country Club in Henderson.

The Chargers shot nine over par as a team both days to wind up at 18 over par for the tournament. Coronado (+41) finished in second, and Palo Verde (+45) was third.

Edison’s Timothy Jung topped the leaderboard in finishing the tournament at four under par. He shot five under par for the final round on Tuesday.

Troy Tarvin entered the clubhouse at three over par and finished fourth for the Chargers, and Ben Crinella ended up in a three-way tie for sixth at eight over par.

Connor Krueger (+11, tied for 13th) also contributed to the team score for the Chargers.

Sage Hill 207, Pacifica Christian Orange County 225: The Tritons’ Eston Miller and the Lightning’s Dustin Miller shared medalist honors with one-under-par rounds of 35 in Tuesday’s Academy League match at Strawberry Farms Golf Club.

Pacifica Christian dropped to 3-2 overall.

Costa Mesa 245, Westminster 286: Senior Cristopher Rodriguez shot a six-over-par 41 to lead the visiting Mustangs to victory on Monday in an Orange Coast League match at Meadowlark Golf Club.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Pacifica Christian Orange County 3, Orangewood Academy 0: The visiting Tritons defeated the Spartans 25-7, 25-22, 25-5 on Tuesday in a San Joaquin League match.

Pacifica Christian (11-4, 2-0) has won eight of its past nine.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL

Pacifica Christian Orange County 4, Rosary 1: The pairings of Ava Loritz and Savannah Parker, Julia Mitchel and Kaitlyn Dion, Gianna Gale and Danisha Salinas, and Peyton Soliday and Emily Polk earned wins for the Tritons (3-3) in Tuesday’s nonleague match.

BASEBALL

Ocean View 4, Westminster 0: Pitchers Owen Eisen and Gavin Kells combined on the shutout for the Seahawks in Tuesday’s Golden West League opener at Westminster High.

Eisen allowed two hits and no walks in five shutout innings, striking out nine, for Ocean View (9-5).

Quentin Custodio was two for four with two runs batted in for the Seahawks, who host Westminster on Friday.

Orange 4, Costa Mesa 3: Chris Hall was two for two with a double and run batted in for the Mustangs in Tuesday’s Orange Coast League game on the road.

Jordan Stucki also had a pair of hits for Costa Mesa (8-6, 2-3), which plays at Saddleback on Friday.

Loara 8, Los Amigos 4: The Lobos dropped Tuesday’s Garden Grove League game at home.

Los Amigos (13-2, 4-2) will travel to take on Loara (6-4, 5-1) on Friday at 3 p.m.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Corona del Mar 13, Laguna Beach 5: Niels Hoffmann and Jack Cross each swept in singles for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s Sunset Conference crossover match at Corona del Mar High.

CdM (7-1) plays at Fountain Valley in a Surf League opener Thursday.

Ian MacLaughlin and Peter Durand swept in doubles for Laguna Beach (5-3), which hosts Newport Harbor to start Wave League play Thursday.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Huntington Beach 110, Fountain Valley 60: Tas Palcza and Caden Cunningham were each double event winners for the Oilers in Tuesday’s Sunset Conference crossover meet at Fountain Valley High.

Palcza touched first in the 200-yard individual medley (1 minute, 59 seconds) and the 100 breaststroke (1:00.26), while Cunningham won the 50 freestyle in 22.16 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 48.91.

Huntington Beach improved to 5-0 in dual meets this season, and hosts Laguna Beach in its Wave League opener on April 5.
