High School Roundup: Owen Sideris of Ocean View baseball fires no-hitter

Senior right-handed pitcher Owen Sideris threw a no-hitter for the Ocean View High School baseball team Tuesday in the Seahawks’ 10-0 Golden West League victory over Godinez at Ocean View.

Sideris walked none and struck out eight in the effort, hitting three batters. He threw 81 pitches.

Landon Runyan and Quentin Custodio each had a hit, a run scored and two runs batted in for the Seahawks (11-5, 3-0 in the Golden West League). Cole Kenrich was two for two with an RBI.

Ocean View hosts Canyon in a nonleague game Wednesday.

Corona del Mar 15, Marina 3: Charlie Mannon was three for three with a grand slam and seven RBIs for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s Wave League game at CdM.

Ethan Watson was two for two with three runs scored. Brycen Hill got the win on the mound, with five scoreless innings for first-place Corona del Mar (10-6, 3-0).

Gabe Geiger, Collin Miskelly and Joey Murphy each had a pair of hits for Marina (4-12, 1-2).

Los Amigos 5, Bolsa Grande 0: Josiah Alvarez threw a shutout for the Lobos in Tuesday’s Garden Grove League game on the road.

Los Amigos, the top-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division 7 poll, improved to 15-2 overall and 6-2 in league.

Calvary Chapel 14, Estancia 7: Trevor Scott and Andrew Mits each had a pair of hits for Estancia in Tuesday’s Orange Coast League game at Estancia High.

Jack Moyer was one for four with a double and a run batted in for Estancia (15-3, 3-3), ranked No. 5 in Division 6.

Los Alamitos 10, Fountain Valley 4: The Barons dropped to 7-11 overall and 1-3 in the Surf League following Tuesday’s defeat on the road.

SOFTBALL

Huntington Beach 6, Edison 0: Grace Grundstrom, Sophia Knight, Emma McCraw and Zoe Prystajko each had two hits for the Oilers on Tuesday in a Surf League game on the road.

Emma Francisco had a two-run double for Huntington Beach (9-3, 3-0), which is ranked No. 10 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll.

Tea Gutierrez, Prystajko and Francisco combined on a two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts.

Los Alamitos 9, Marina 3: Makayla Mathis and Zoe King each had two hits and a run batted in for the host Vikings on Tuesday in a Surf League game.

Annaliah Lummus scored two runs for Marina (7-7, 1-2).

BOYS’ TENNIS

Corona del Mar 14, Los Alamitos 4: Jack Cross and Logan Friedman each swept in singles for the Sea Kings in a key Surf League match Tuesday at Corona del Mar High.

The doubles teams of Ansel Lee and Kevin Joynt, as well as Tristan Pham and Roger Geng, each won twice for CdM (9-1, 2-0), ranked No. 2 in Division 1.

Los Alamitos is ranked No. 2 in Division 2.

Marina 16, Laguna Beach 2: Peter Liang, Vincent Hoang and Trevor Nguyen helped the Vikings sweep in singles in Tuesday’s Wave League match at Laguna Beach High.

Marina, ranked No. 4 in Division 2, improved to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in league.

The brother tandem of Jeff and Chris Herkins won a pair of doubles sets for Laguna Beach (6-4, 1-1).

Fountain Valley 13, Huntington Beach 5: The Barons improved to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the Surf League with a win at home on Tuesday afternoon.

Fountain Valley plays at Los Alamitos on Thursday. Huntington Beach (9-4, 0-2) will play host to Corona del Mar in its next match.

Segerstrom 15, Ocean View 3: The visiting Seahawks fell to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in the Golden West League with Tuesday’s loss.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 20, Huntington Beach 6: Abby Grace scored four goals for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s Sunset League game at CdM.

Frankie Garcia and Kate Miller each netted three goals for Corona del Mar (8-3, 1-1).

CdM plays at Newport Harbor in the first Battle of the Bay game on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Newport Harbor 16, Los Alamitos 4: Rowdy Farmer scored six goals for the Sailors in Tuesday’s Sunset League game at Los Alamitos High.

Olivia Gritzmacher scored three goals and goalkeeper Lucy Valdez made 10 saves for Newport Harbor (7-4, 1-1).

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Calvary Chapel 3, Costa Mesa 0: The Eagles swept the visiting Mustangs 25-16, 25-22, 25-15 on Tuesday in an Orange Coast League match.

Costa Mesa (4-8, 1-4) plays at Santa Ana on Thursday.
