High School Roundup: Ocean View girls’ volleyball sweeps Segerstrom in Golden West League opener

Jade Auger had nine kills, nine digs and four service aces to lead the Ocean View girls’ volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-15, 25-17 straight-sets victory over Segerstrom on Tuesday in a Golden West League opener at home.

Suvi Flint had six aces for Ocean View (5-7), which plays at Garden Grove on Thursday. Natalia Christensen distributed 21 assists, and Isabel Escuro had 11 digs and two aces.

Huntington Beach 3, Fountain Valley 0: Coming off a semifinals appearance in the gold bracket of the Dave Mohs Tournament, the host Oilers swept the Barons 25-16, 25-18, 25-12 on Tuesday in a Sunset Conference crossover match.

Huntington Beach (13-2) faces off with visiting Laguna Beach (9-11) in a Surf League opener on Thursday.

Fountain Valley (7-11) will open Wave League play at Marina (12-7) on Thursday.

Rancho Alamitos 3, Los Amigos 2: The Lobos mounted a comeback but took the loss to the Vaqueros 25-8, 25-16, 20-25, 23-25, 15-7 in a Garden Grove League opener at Rancho Alamitos on Tuesday.

Los Amigos (0-7) plays host to Loara on Thursday.

Los Alamitos 3, Newport Harbor 0: Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Repetti had 13 kills to lead the visiting Griffins to a 27-25, 28-26, 25-22 sweep of the Sailors on Tuesday in a Sunset Conference crossover match.

Newport Harbor (8-4) has dropped consecutive matches for the second time this season.

GIRLS’ GOLF

Costa Mesa 242, Orange 317: Junior Sydney Ngo carded a two-over-par 36 to lead the Mustangs over the Panthers on Tuesday in an Orange Coast League match at Riverview Golf Course.

Costa Mesa improved to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in league.

Pacifica Christian Orange County 224, Estancia 226: The Tritons’ Samantha Davidson and the Eagles’ Landry Harder shared medalist honors with rounds of 10-over-par 39 on Tuesday in the nonleague match at Newport Beach Golf Course.

Estancia dropped to 4-4 overall.

Fountain Valley 173, Laguna Beach 212: The Barons ran their winning streak to seven matches to open the season with Tuesday’s victory in Sunset Conference crossover play over the Breakers at David L. Baker Golf Course.

Huntington Beach 190, Marina 221: The Oilers snapped a two-match losing streak with Tuesday’s win over the Vikings in a Sunset Conference crossover match at Meadowlark Golf Course.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Edison 10, Cypress 8: The visiting Chargers extended their unbeaten streak to three matches with a narrow victory on Tuesday in a nonleague match.

Edison improved to 4-2-1 overall.

Mission Viejo 12, Estancia 6: The Eagles were doubled up on Tuesday in a nonleague match at Estancia High.

Estancia (2-3) travels to Savanna for a nonleague tilt on Thursday.

Villa Park 10, Fountain Valley 8: The Barons dropped to 3-2 overall following Tuesday’s nonleague match against the visiting Spartans.

Foothill 10, Huntington Beach 8: The Oilers took their second straight nonleague loss at home, falling to 1-2 on the season.

Dana Hills 12, Laguna Beach 6: The Breakers took the loss on Tuesday in a nonleague match at Dana Hills High.

Laguna Beach (1-2) plays host to Tesoro on Thursday.

Marina 14, Crean Lutheran 4: The Vikings have won three of their past four matches following Tuesday’s nonleague blowout victory over the Saints at home.

Marina moved its record to 4-3 overall.

San Juan Hills 11, Newport Harbor 7: The Sailors dropped to 3-2 overall with a nonleague loss to the Stallions on Tuesday on the road.

Newport Harbor travels to take on St. Margaret’s on Thursday.

Ocean View 14, Loara 4: The host Seahawks evened their record at 2-2 overall with Tuesday’s nonleague win at home against the Saxons.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Huntington Beach 14, Santa Margarita 13 (2OT): The host Oilers earned a double overtime win over the Eagles on Tuesday in a nonleague match, improving to 6-2 on the season.
