CDM Aquatics to send nine to national team selection camps

Nine athletes from CDM Aquatics have been selected to participate in USA Water Polo’s National Team Selection Camps this Spring.

The CDM Aquatics players who will compete for a spot on their respective national teams are goalies Heidi Ritner and Erin Tharp and center Bridget Storm for the Youth (18U) girls.

Attackers Chloe Harbilas and Jaleh Moaddeli for the Cadet (16U) Girls and attacker Sophie Wallace, goalie Maya Avital and center Layne Anzaldo for the Developmental (14U) girls.

Center Ben Brooks was selected for the Youth (18U) boys.

USA Water Polo held their Age-Group National Championships on March 14-15 for the girls and Feb. 27-March 1 for the boys at various pools in Riverside.

The two-day tournaments are part of USA Water Polo’s Olympic Development Program and the process for selecting the final national team rosters in May.

In addition to the athletes’ selections, CDM Head Coach Ross Sinclair, also the Corona del Mar High girls’ water polo coach, was voted the tournament’s Top 18U Coach Award in leading the Southern Pacific Zone’s 18U girls to victory in the championship game.

The national championships consisted of teams at three age levels from 13 different regions (zones) across the country. Each of the three national teams will participate in summer training and competitions.
