High School Roundup: Bacon second at Mt. SAC

WALNUT — The Newport Harbor High girls’ team finished fifth in the Division 2 Sub-Sweeps Race led by junior Emily Bacon and senior Erin Barth Saturday.

Bacon finished second in 18 minutes, 33 seconds, and Barth was third, finishing in 18:54.6.

Junior Holly Clemence came in 17th in 20:05.7.

On the boys’ side, junior Erik Herrera took 23rd in 17:16.9. Sophomore Ben Wilson won the sophomore boys’ race in 16:25.3, and a ninth-place finish in the same sophomore race with a time of 18:00.1 was Jake Smith.
