High School Roundup: CdM boys’ basketball beats Los Alamitos

John Humphreys scored 13 points, and the Corona del Mar High boys’ basketball team beat visiting Los Alamitos 62-51 in Wednesday’s Surf League game.

Ethan Garbers had 11 points for CdM (16-6, 1-1 in league), which plays at rival Newport Harbor (21-2, 1-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.

High School Roundup: In the Jan. 16 Sports section, the roundup misstated the Laguna Beach boys’ basketball team’s overall record. The Breakers are 9-13, not 9-14.

Los Alamitos fell to 7-13 and 0-3 in the league.

Laguna Beach 62, Huntington Beach 54: Nolan Naess scored 28 points for the Breakers in Wednesday’s Wave League road game.

Lucas Kravitz added 12 points for Laguna Beach (9-13, 2-0 in league), which hosts Marina on Friday at 7 p.m.

Huntington Beach (8-16, 0-2) is at Fountain Valley on Friday at 7 p.m.

Santa Ana 59, Costa Mesa 54: Osman Hefner and Tre Villalpando each scored 17 points for the Mustangs in Wednesday’s Orange Coast League road game.

Nico Dasca scored 13 points for Costa Mesa (9-11, 4-1 in league), which fell into a first-place tie with Estancia halfway through league play.

The Mustangs play at Calvary Chapel on Friday at 7 p.m.

Estancia 75, Calvary Chapel 61: The Eagles improved to 13-10 overall and 4-1 in the league after Wednesday’s Orange Coast League game.

Estancia plays at Saddleback on Friday at 7 p.m.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 3, Los Alamitos 2 (OT): Matt Katz scored the golden goal to complete the visiting Sea Kings’ comeback victory in Wednesday’s Surf League contest.

CdM trailed 2-0, but Grant Glessing and Aidan Holmes struck before halftime to even the score.

Holmes finished with a goal and two assists, while Wally Korbler provided eight saves in goal.

The Sea Kings (12-3, 2-0 in league) will remain on the road to play Newport Harbor in the Battle of the Bay on Friday at 5 p.m.

Edison 4, Newport Harbor 0: Jaxon Rogers had two goals to lead the Chargers to a Surf League win at home on Wednesday.

Armand Pigeon and Marcus Henze also scored for the Chargers.

Edison (11-4-4, 2-0) leads the league heading into a matchup with visiting Los Alamitos (11-8-3, 1-1) on Friday at 5 p.m.

Fountain Valley 4, Marina 2: Sebastian Rus had three goals to lead the Barons over the visiting Vikings in Wednesday’s Wave League match.

Tyler Le added a goal for the Barons (12-4, 2-0 in league). Fountain Valley travels to face Huntington Beach (5-14-3, 1-1) on Friday at 3 p.m.

Huntington Beach 2, Laguna Beach 0: The Oilers earned their first Wave League victory in Wednesday’s home match.

Laguna Beach dropped to 3-6-3 and 0-2 in the league.

Estancia 2, Calvary Chapel 0: Marcos Arreola and Miguel Pena scored goals for the host Eagles in Wednesday’s Orange Coast League match.

Chapin Camberos added an assist.

Estancia (11-5-2, 2-1-1) will host Saddleback (7-6-1, 4-1) on Friday at 5 p.m.

WRESTLING

Fountain Valley 54, Marina 24: The visiting Barons capped an undefeated Surf League campaign on Wednesday.

The Barons (10-1, 3-0 in league) will compete in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 Dual Meet championships on Jan. 26 at Lakewood High.
