When/where: 7 p.m. Friday at Cerritos College

Key Sailors: So. QB Cole Lavin; So. RB/DB Justin McCoy; Jr. WR Aidan Goltz; Sr. MLB Brian Bailey

Key Griffins: Jr. QB Cade McConnell; Sr. WR Zack Wagoner; Jr. WR/FS John Newman; Sr. MLB Nicholas Valenzuela

Breakdown: Newport Harbor goes back on the road to face a high-powered Los Alamitos offense in a Sunset League game … Newport Harbor (3-2-1, 0-1 in league) did well to limit Huntington Beach to one scoring drive in each half last week, but the Sailors’ offense left much to be desired. After Justin McCoy rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns at San Marino in Week 5, the Sailors rushed 24 times and it did not result in positive yardage versus the Oilers … Los Alamitos (5-1, 1-0), which has won five in a row, represents a step up in class for the Newport Harbor defense. The Griffins bring an up-tempo style offensively, rarely offering opposing defenses a breather. Los Alamitos shut out Fountain Valley 69-0 last week, and the Griffins are averaging 38.7 points per game. They are the sixth-ranked team in CIF Southern Section Division 2 … Newman leads the Griffins’ defense with three interceptions returned for a touchdown this season.
