Briefs: Mesa pool set to open

The Costa Mesa High School Aquatics Center, which features a 50-meter Olympic-sized pool, will officially be unveiled during a grand opening ceremony Tuesday at 4 p.m.

A tentative opening date had been set for Nov. 1, but the construction crew finished the project ahead of schedule.

The aquatics complex also includes a classroom, a snack bar, as well as a state-of-the-art scoreboard and sound system. The pool has special touch pads for timing.

Measure F, the $282 million bond measure voters approved in 2006, helped the renovation, which cost $6.6 million, said Laura Boss, the district's director of communications.
