NORTHRIDGE — Senior forward Amani Walker converted an assist from sophomore Everett Pitts in the 82nd minute for the game-winner in the Big West Conference game Wednesday.

Senior defender Corey Attaway scored with an assist from Bello Alhassan in the 60th minute to erase a 1-0 deficit for the No. 8-ranked Anteaters (11-1-2, 4-0-1 in conference).

Junior Andrew Fontein had six saves for UCI, which is on an eight-match unbeaten streak.

The Matadors are 2-10-2, 1-1-4.

The Anteaters play host to Cal State Fullerton Saturday night at 7.

Vanguard 1, Point Loma Nazarene 0

SAN DIEGO — Junior Willy Pellow headed in a cross from sophomore Kyle O’Brien to break a scoreless tie in the 72nd minute of the Golden State Athletic Conference game Wednesday on the Sea Lions’ field.

Senior Trevor Herrera made two saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season, the seventh for the No. 17-ranked Lions (7-7, 7-1 in conference).

The win lifts Vanguard into second place in the GSAC, behind Cal Baptist.

Point Loma falls to 5-9, 2-6.

The Lions play host to Fresno Pacific Friday at 6 p.m.

SAN DIEGO — The Lions lost their fourth straight when the Golden State Athletic Conference host Sea Lions scored with two minutes left in the second overtime period Wednesday.

Lily Rainey connected on a free kick from 40 yards out to extend Vanguard’s winless streak to five matches. Chelsea Lesniak had five saves for the No. 21-ranked Lions (7-5-3, 1-4-2 in conference).

Danielle Dintino had three shots for Vanguard, which was outshot, 11-7.

Point Loma is 5-4-3, 3-3-2.
