High School Roundup: Eagles shut out Bolsa Grande

COSTA MESA — Senior Jackie Freiberger had two goals and one assist for the Eagles in the nonleague game Thursday.

Freshman Haley Flores scored one goal, as did seniors Erin O’Neil and Ashly Romero for Estancia (6-3-2). Junior Heather Flores had two assists, while senior Alissa Scheafer and junior Sierra Gordon added one assist each. Goalie Ferny Perez had one save in her shutout.

The Eagles will play host to Laguna Beach in their Orange Coast League opener Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Costa Mesa 63, Loara 24

COSTA MESA — Junior Nancy Aguilar recorded 11 points for the Mustangs in a nonleague game Thursday night.

Marilyn Armstrong added 11 points for Costa Mesa (5-10).

The Mustangs will play host to La Habra Saturday at 3 p.m.

Sage Hill 49, Connelly 22

NEWPORT COAST — Junior Ava Soleimany scored 24 points for the Lightning in the nonleague game Thursday night.

Zoe Kreitenberg had 14 points, while Maggie Danner recorded eight points and 12 rebounds for Sage Hill (7-5).

The Lightning play at Crean Lutheran South today at 6 p.m.

Marina 44, Newport Harbor 32

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Kasey Thompson finished with 14 points and 16 rebounds in the Sailors’ Sunset League opener Thursday.

Mandy Legault had five points and Alex Morton contributed 10 rebounds, six assists and three points for Newport Harbor (9-7, 0-1 in league).

The Sailors will play at Los Alamitos Tuesday at 7 p.m.
